Stainless Steel 321H Seamless Pipes

Stainless Steel 321H is an austenitic grade of stainless steel that is stabilized with titanium. The H in 321H signifies that the alloy has a higher carbon content than the regular 321 grade, which makes it ideal for high-temperature environments. The grade 321H stainless steel is primarily used in applications where the material will be exposed to temperatures exceeding 800°C, but below 1500°C.

The seamless nature of the pipes refers to the fact that they are manufactured without any welded joints, making them a preferred choice in high-pressure and high-temperature applications. This type of construction results in a pipe that exhibits excellent mechanical properties, including improved strength and resistance to oxidation, as compared to other materials. The seamless structure is created through processes like extrusion or rotary piercing, which allows for uniform thickness and fewer defects.

The most notable feature of 321H stainless steel is its excellent resistance to high temperatures. With the ability to perform effectively in environments with temperatures between 800°C to 1500°C, 321H is particularly suitable for applications where materials must endure thermal stress over prolonged periods. It is less susceptible to oxidation and scaling, making it ideal for industries like power generation and heat exchangers.

Due to the high carbon content, 321H stainless steel provides enhanced strength at elevated temperatures compared to standard 321 stainless steel. This makes it particularly effective for use in structural applications that require both heat resistance and mechanical strength, such as in pressure vessels, reactors, and heat exchangers.

The pipes are then subjected to heat treatment, where they are heated to a specific temperature and rapidly cooled. This process helps relieve stresses, improve strength, and ensure that the pipes can withstand high-temperature conditions without deforming. The heat treatment process is critical for enhancing the corrosion resistance of the pipes.

Ferrobend places a strong emphasis on quality control, ensuring that each 321H seamless pipe meets the required specifications and standards. The final products undergo various tests, including dimensional checks, mechanical property tests, and non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic and hydrostatic testing. This ensures that the pipes are free from defects and are capable of withstanding extreme operating conditions.
